Congrats, Lindsey!

By Liz Wing on 05/12/2009 @ 06:00 PM

Great news! One of our members, Lindsey Horvath, was recently appointed to local office. The West Hollywood City Council voted unanimously to appoint Lindsey Horvath as their new City Councilmember. West Hollywood Mayor Abbe Land remarked about Horvath’s work, saying “Our city has already been made better by the contributions of Lindsey Horvath in her capacity as chair of the City’s Women’s Advisory Board and in so many other roles.”

There is something else that’s noteworthy about Horvath. She’s 26. She said one of her greatest challenges is the number of people who underestimate young people. But she finds it exciting to be an example for young girls and women, striving to affect change in their own unique way.

I think it’s also interesting to note Horvath’s background. She holds a bachelor’s of arts degree in Political Science and Gender Studies. She has been heavily involved with many organizations that work to improve opportunities for women. Horvath’s appointment proves that there is value in gender studies and there is value in working for the advancement of women.

Horvath is one of those women who wears many hats, working in many capacities to improve her community. Watch for updates from her on this site.

I am looking forward to hearing so many more stories like this one. Congratulations, Lindsey Horvath!
