Stronger Communities

Creating Jobs and Protecting the American Dream

"I have no sympathy with the professional economists who insist that things must run their course and that human agencies can have no influence on economic ills. . . . But I do have faith, and retain faith, in the strength of common purpose, and in the strength of unified action by the American people.”
— President Franklin D. Roosevelt, July 24, 1933

The strength of our nation is very much dependent on the economic security and vitality of our families and communities. We must therefore do all we can to ensure that American families are economically strong and our children have the opportunity to reach their potential. Today, too many Americans are unemployed or underemployed; many so discouraged after months or years of looking that they have given up looking for work. Small businesses, job-creation engines in our economy, are struggling with accessing capital to support smart investments that are good for business, workers, and the economy.

Short-term measures are needed now to continue to stimulate the economy and job creation and to maintain a safety net for those who desperately need it.

To ensure our economic security in the long run, America needs long-term investments in domestic manufacturing, research and development, and modernizing and rebuilding our nation’s critical infrastructure. This will not only help create good jobs but will help preserve our quality of life and significantly improve our ability to prevent, and respond to, natural (e.g., Hurricane Katrina) and man-made (e.g., terrorist) threats.

No Limits also believes that an increased degree of financial regulation is needed to protect the hard-earned savings and other assets (such as our homes) of Americans and to ensure that the recent financial excesses and resulting near-calamities will not happen again.
